Grindstone Neck, Winter Harbor, Maine

The Peninsula (Grindstone Neck)

Grindstone Neck itself offers miles of unspoiled Maine coastline and a peaceful nineteenth-century summer colony. Home ownership on the Neck enables application for membership in an association which includes tennis courts (clay and hard surfaces), pool, and a golf course, all within easy walking distance of this house. Grindstone Neck homeowners are not required to belong to the association.

The Winter Harbor Yacht Club, which also requires application for membership, is also on the peninsula within easy walking distance of the house. It offers sailing and racing programs for kids and adults, with Optimist and Bullseye fleets. The club is also the home of Winter Harbor 21s (21 feet at the waterline, 31 feet overall), designed for this club in 1907 and still raced every weekend during the summer.
